Strong start to the year
“By committing ourselves to the things our customers care about, Folksam continues to go from strength to strength,” says Anders Sundström, Group CEO Folksam. During the first quarter, the total premium volume continued to grow while financial strength improved further. Assets under management grew by SEK 19 billion, totalling SEK 304 billion on 31 March. Total return for the period was 1.2 per cent in Folksam Life and 1.4 per cent in KPA Pension.

Folksam buys one of the world’s most ecosmart buildings

Folksam is buying the internationally noted office property Kungsbrohuset from Jernhusen. This property is located in the expanding Västra City district of Stockholm and is one of the most modern buildings in Sweden in terms of both environmental thinking and technical solutions. The total investment is around SEK 2.1 billion and is shared between KPA Pension and Folksam Life.

For the period of January to December 2011, Folksam Life reported a total return of 6.5 per cent and KPA Pension 5.6 per cent. The total return for 2011 is well above average for the industry and, in a five-year comparison, Folksam and KPA both end up at the very top. During the year, assets under management have grown by a further SEK 17 billion, amounting to SEK 285 billion at the turn of the year.

Folksam begins strategic partnership in Finland

Folksam is set to acquire 51% of the shares in insurance provider Aktia Skadeförsäkring after reaching an agreement with Finland-based Aktia ABP.
